Grow big dense buds – pruning cannabis in flower

Sort of an irrelevant off hand question, I have. Does anyone here think that the laws that limit how many plants people can grow, are damaging the ability of the species to be experimented with genetically? I am wondering if by limiting how many we can grow by regulation, will this end up making some varieties extinct? We lose the ability to innovate through genetics in a more viable way. Many people are happy with the current regulations and they won't catch on until the damage is done. We are already missing some of the old great varieties that used to be around, the "Woodstock" weed that Kevin Sabet always runs his mouth about…. Some of those old Sativa's were nice. Those were all replaced by fast growing, big bud, short stature "gorilla" buds that produce large weights because this is what makes the most money. When you throw the money aspect away and start focusing on the plant itself you realize the extreme potentials and extreme differences that can be had by a personal breeding initiative. That initiative is extremely limited by regulations that seeks to put all of the power of genetics into as few hands as possible.
